Happy New Year, yes I know it’s March

2 months of 2014 have already passed me by, where they went ~ I have no idea.  It’s really kind of sad.  Time just flying by…I’ve been so busy with my 9-5 job and it’s really been affecting my home life as well as any hopes of sewing on the side.  I still have my part time work that I cram in too.  It’s been just crazy the past 6 months with no slow down in sight.  But, if you really want something, you’ve got to do it.

work you didnt do

I very well can’t be “be upset by results I don’t have with work I haven’t done”.   I just really need to get it together.  I’m determined.  It’s already the 3rd month of the year.

Repurposed with a purpose…

I enjoy repurposing…I can’t stand to let a good piece of clothing or fabric go when I could surely see myself using it for “something” even though I may not quite know what! It ends up resulting in a lot of space being taken up by future “projects” lol. I decided I’d to get one done not too long ago with a pair of pinstriped capri’s. I get a lot of hand me downs, and I frequent area yard and garage sales. But these were really cute and sadly, did not fit me. I had high hopes to fit into them one day, but those hopes did not seem to be materializing any time soon (sigh)…so I had been wanting to make a vendor apron for a while. In my recent gift of fabric from my dear Aunt, there was a cute contrasting yellow fabric I thought would match well…so off I went.

It’s a pretty basic vendor apron. I have one large pocket, one smaller side pocket. The larger pocket has an inner zipper pocket for cash or secret stash. And then I added the contrasting pen pocket on the outside. I think it came out okay. It was my first one, and I was pretty much winging it with no pattern, just sewing and cutting and cutting and sewing. But overall, I’m happy with it. Repurposed with a purpose. I love giving new life into something that otherwise may have been wasted. =)

Motivation…

It’s funny how I keep thinking I have so many things I want to do, but yet when it comes down to the time to do it, I sit and stare and think and…sit and stare and think, repeat.  In the end, nothing gets done, and then I feel guilty at having let precious time pass by without having gotten anything done.  I like to tell myself it’s because I have so many ideas that I can’t focus, when really, I think I’m just lazy.  If I could just get myself to do more doing, instead of thinking about doing… “I sit and stare at all this fabric and still can’t get motivated to sew something…”

Karma’s coming…

Been trying to get it together for these craft fairs I have coming up, but not much luck. I’ve been busy with so many other things, life, work, kids, husband, baby showers…I really need to get on it. Finding it hard to get inspired even though I’ve been making these cute inspirational message bottles. These are mini karma brut bottles that I drank -it would be a shame to waste the alcohol-lol, and cleaned out. I simply printed inspiration quotes I found online on photo paper, rolled up, tied and stuck them in. There are thirty one messages in each bottle, one for each day of a month. These would make a great little gift! Hope the craft fair shoppers think so too! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Karma in a bottle…

On my tumblr blog (thekirakollection.tumblr.com) I wrote about this awesome alcoholic beverage, Karma.  I love it.  Anyhow, my dear friend had a bday today turning the young age of 32 (which is the best age EVER, ahem) – and so little Kira and I decided to use the bottles I’d saved to create her Karma in a Bottle.  I’ve had this idea for a while (which is why I was saving all the bottles) but never got around to doing it, and what perfect excuse to do so!  I cut off all the extra label info I didnt want and just left the simplicity of the word, KARMA.

So I went and gathered and printed colorful, meaningful quotes or sayingsImage

I then proceeded to individually roll them up and tie them with a tiny ribbon and bow, and I put them into the bottle:

32 of them to be exact.  At the end, the bottle was filled with lovely little notes for her to open up an enjoy.

It turned out lovely and I can’t wait to make more and put in my shop!  Good Karma to all – remember, Karma’s only a bitch if you are!
